The MDPI assessment was designed to be easy for the examiner to administer as well as comfortable and enjoyable for the student. It is conducted as a clinical interview in an informal, interactive style, using a variety of activities across several math topics. Manipulative materials, pictures and paper and pencil formats are utilized. The examiner records all the answers and probes the student's thinking process, which is as important as a correct solution.
